Many thanks for this brilliant suggestion. I usually avoid hard links
because they are so non-portable and seem difficult to backup
appropriately, etc, but this does seems like the perfect application of
them-- no data duplication, and solves the sparse-tree problem with
great elegance. Because I rarely if ever use hard links, this did not
even occur to me.
That's why I love this OS. So many ways to skin the cat, and always
someone with a better idea. Thanks again.
