[sllug-members]: I'm running for the Utah Senate district 23 seat

As some of you have already noticed and/or heard, I registered to run for the
Utah State Senate. I am running (and living, of course) in Senate district
23, which covers south Davis County (all of North Salt Lake, Woods Cross,
Bountiful & West Bountiful and the majority of Centerville). I am one of 8
Republicans registered to run for this one (1) seat.

I wanted to let everyone know about the Neighborhood Caucuses, which are
coming up very fast. They will be this coming Tuesday night, (that's right,
2008/03/25). See [ http://daviscounty.utgop.org/page.php?page_id=7 ] for
more information in Davis County. For those in other counties, visit [
http://utgop.org/ and look for your county's sub-site.

For those who were not aware (and I was one of them until this week) these
caucuses allow you to have a voice in a much earlier and very important part
of the election process. All you have to do is show up at the proper
location, find your precinct's meeting (it will be separate from other
precincts) and sign up to become a delegate. If there are more people who
want to be delegates than can be sent to the Convention(s) from your
precinct, you may not get to be it.

For those of you who live in my State Senate district, feel free to email me
off-list at <lamont at lamontpeterson.org> and I will be happy to help you find
your correct location. I will try to answer any questions as best as I can
about my positions and viewpoints on the issues, and I would appreciate all
of the support that you are willing to give. For those in other districts,
feel free to email me, but as time is so short, I might not have enough of it
to help you find what you need. If in doubt, contact your County Clerk's
office, the Lt. Governor's office or the State or County Party Leadership.

The first hurdle is the get delegates signed up at the caucuses. It only
takes a short time in that one evening to become a delegate. If you can
become a delegate and would be will to support and vote for me at the
convention, that would be very helpful. With 7 others looking for the Party
nomination, every delegate counts immensely.

I am planning on posting as much useful information on a variety of issues on
my [ http://lamontpeterson.org/ ] website over the weekend. Don't let that
fact stop you from sending me your questions. Who knows, you might just see
me post information about a topic I hadn't thought of listing.

I plan to not send any further political notices to this list. I wish to
respect all on this list and not have lengthy political conversations on
here.

Thank you.
