Well as far as I'm aware you will want MythTv. There are guides to install it in Ubuntu, or you can go with a MythTV distro like MythTV.

Subject: [sllug-members]: Linux TV

Is there a recommended linux distro for my Media Center needs in
linux? I have the following equipment. I have a HVR 950 and a Pinnacle
TV MCE remote and IR blaster (min req vista). I go through a DirectTV
settop box and require the remote/ir blaster to work if I want it to
record programs on multiple channels while im away and not constantly
rescheduling the programs to record (series tv shows).

Thanks in advance,

Allen
