[sllug-members]: Bill to restrict open wireless access

Interesting.

The way I read this is as such:

If you provide WiFi in a public place (say a coffee shop) you have to
block access to minors. Simply asking for ID would work to verify age
right? At the same time you can provide wired access with no
limitation. Odd.

Edit: ("Harmful to minors" is as defined in Section 76-10-1201)
What defines "harmful to minors"? Myspace can be harmful. Here is an example:
If a kid came to my coffee shop, drank my coffee and arranged a
meeting via myspace.com, and then went and got killed, it would be my
fault.

I like this part:
"It is a violation of this chapter for a retailer to sell a device
that is capable of wirelessly accessing the Internet without the
device or the device's retail packaging being labeled with a notice
that the device is capable of wirelessly accessing the Internet."

It's called advertising, who doesn't advertise their product can
access the internet?

Important to note as well:
"This section does not apply to a person who maintains a wireless
network within the person's private residence to provide personal
wireless Internet access."
