Any of the XScreenSaver text-driven screen savers are capable of
displaying a HTML or RSS URL. Simply launch xscreensaver-demo, click
on the Advanced tab, and select URL under Text Manipulation. The
~/.xscreensaver or /usr/share/X11/app-defaults/XScreenSaver files can
also be directly edited. The setting you are looking for is called
"*textMode:" It should be set to "url". Then set "*textURL:" to the
URL of your choice.

My personal favorite screen saver that makes use of this is called
NoseGuy. A cartoon nose with feet walks around the screen. Every once
in a while, it will stop and you get balloon text. The text depends on
the setting of "*textMode:". I generally set it to "program" and set
"*textProgram:" to "/usr/bin/fortune".
