The 'planet debian' RSS Feed comes out of the stock Etch installed
screen saver 'Banners & Pictures -> Phosphor'.  Never thought too much
about how it worked but you question got me looking.

Seems to call 'xscreensaven-text' to generate text.  This is driven by a
.xscreensaver file.  I had none so it defaulted to the feed url.  It
then outputs the generated text in old fashioned green decaying pixels.
Maybe you can find others?
