[sllug-members]: Programming Projects and Help Wanted and Learning C

I am trying to learn how to program in C and/or C++ better.  I am no good at
it so I need some help.  I've purchased many books and tutorials on both
subjects and have found myself no better, so obviously I need a project to
work on or a mentor, or both.  Does anybody out there want to teach somebody
who is not new to programming (I know Java SE, Ruby - not rails though, and
some C#.Net fairly well), but wants to get a good foot in the door on C or
C++?  Does anybody have a project that I could try and help with, sort of as
an intern - mind you I already have a full time job, but I have a little
extra time to devote to seriously learning programming.

I'd appreciate any advice or help in this direction.  Thanks.
