I imagine that's true. I hope my comments about salary didn't come off 
as rude or narrow-minded. Hopefully all the caveats I mentioned were 
well received, since my data is limited to those with whom I have 
worked, and also limited to the companies where I have worked. It could 
very well be that the companies I have worked for favor those with CS 
degrees (by virtue of the fact that I got hired with one). I'm not sure 
about the rest of companies out there, nor do I even know if the 
original poster even cares about salary. Sorry I took us into 
salaryville when the original question was about schooling.

Just to take the topic in a slightly different off-topic direction, the 
very best job interview I have ever conducted was with an MIT CS 
graduate. He knew his stuff forward and backward, theory and practical. 
We hired him in a heartbeat (he started this week actually), and based 
on the stories he's told me about his educational experience, I would 
highly recommend MIT for CS degree seekers, if you can swing it.
