Something else, besides convincing them of businesses leaving,
residents wanting it (and willing to take the so-called "gamble") is
to let them know that Fiber isn't only a commercial medium. It's a
way for cities to communicate to their people; in times of disaster, a
fiber line to the community is a very convenient, fast, efficient and
effective way to communicate the situation and guidelines that should
be followed. You have a "direct tap" into TV sets, telephone systems
and even computers; let alone the other facilities such as traffic cam
connections. Several traffic lights in SLC are controlled over Fiber
already. Fiber is more than just Internet/TV/Phone, maybe using that
for the non-technical politicians would help; it seems to in Woods
Cross.
