If we could have a meeting Tuesday night and sign a petition to submit to
the committee on Wednesday that would be a good start. Maybe get a couple of
people who can't necessarily spend an an afternoon on the hill, or lack the
compelling business case testimony to share with the committee.
Technology might be our real friend here. We need to convince the committee
that there are too many places in the state that don't have any competition
at all in the way of broadband (because of the distance limitations of DSL).
We also need to make the point that the UTOPIA model infrastructure levels
the playing field for all providers (including Qwest and Comcast), while
complete bans at the state level enforce a monopoly of primitive technology.
