[sllug-members]: Woods Cross UTOPIA, come advocate it. (was: Comcast_Is_Starting_The_Tiered_Internet_Whether_We_Like_It_or_Not)

I suppose that this is on-topic because the majority of Linux users
like the idea of fiber optics to the home. Excuse me if not.

At the Woods Cross City Council Meeting tonight, Mayor Parry said
that at the next Council Meeting on Tuesday the 18th of September at
6:30pm they will have a representative from UTOPIA come and make a
presentation to the council. Since they will be talking about UTOPIA
in depth, it is a great opportunity for everyone who cares to come
and show their support.

Please, if you know anyone that lives within Woods Cross city limits
and who wants fiber to their home, please do me a favor and hype them
up and invite them to go to the City Council Meeting on the 18th.
Then, in the Open Session on the agenda after the UTOPIA
presentation, each of us should get up and mention that we are there
in support for UTOPIA and desire that the council move to join. If
we can show the council that there is great interest in this, I bet
we can get them to sign up.

Another idea to get people to come: if you live in Woods Cross and
happen to belong to a local religious (or other) group, ask your
bishop(/pastor/vicar/president/leader/whatever) if you can make a
community-related announcement in (if you're LDS, a good time to do
this is during priesthood opening exercises), and then give a brief
explanation what UTOPIA is and invite people to come to the Council
meeting to show their support for UTOPIA.

If there are other local user groups you can spam with this message,
please do.

Thanks.
