Some of you may have heard about the Utah Code Camp coming up in a few weeks:
http://utcodecamp.com/
As far as I can tell, Code Camp is something to come out of a large
software company located in Redmond, WA., which warrants some
suspicion. There is a Code Camp manifesto
(http://www.bostondotnet.org/CodeCamp/default.aspx/CodeCamp/CodeCampManifesto.html)
which states things like:
* By and For the Developer Community
* Always Free [as in beer]
* Community Developed Material
* No Fluff only Code
* Community Ownership
Now, if that doesn't have Open Source and Linux written all over it, I
don't know what does.
I'm going to attempt to be a speaker at this event, and I would ask
that you join me in representing Linux and Open Source. I believe
this is a great opportunity to get in front of group of developers who
have little exposure to the Open Source community. I think we should
be able to at least fill one full track; we have so much to talk
about, e.g. "What's GNU," "Intro to Linux," "Beginning Bash
scripting," "Open Source Web Development," just to name a few off the
top of my head.
So, how about it?
Jason
