Personally I liked the Oreilly "SSH Definitive Guide".  I picked up some 
new and fun things to do with ssh.  It's come in handy now and then. 
Oreilly's Kerberos book was awesome.

Don't know if there is a syslog book out there.  Never seen one but this 
book had good information on it.

I use syslog-ng heavily for our SenSage system logger.  Slick tool. 
We're pulling stuff in near real time now.


NSS?  Do you mean network security services?

If so then it's probably there ... somewhere in Oreilly's web site.  I'm 
sure there are other's probably just as good and cheaper.  But over the 
years, over half my books are Oreilly books.  Rarely have I found one 
that's just plain crap :D
