The hdtv3000 was so problematic getting qam to work that I gave up. I've 
worked out some poorly documented and challenging software and hardware 
but I've never felt totally defeated like that.

Read the docs on getting QAM to work on the card with mythtv before you 
buy it and see if they make sense to you.
