My boss at Guru Labs, Dax, is the local Treo expert. I asked for his
advice. He said:

11:28:14 AM) Dax: I use software called USBmodem
(11:28:18 AM) Dax: on the treo
(11:28:39 AM) Dax: On the Linux side, define a PPP connection with phone
number #777 and any user and any pass
(11:28:47 AM) Dax: works great
(11:28:51 AM) Dax: much faster than bluetooth
(11:28:58 AM) Dax: and it charges
