The issues with virt-manager and virt-install are not with Xen, but with those 
particular tools.  They make the assumption that you're only trying to use 
Fedora/FHEL for guests.  I have gotten other distros running on top of RHEL4 
Xen and RHEL5, but it isn't that simple to do.  The Fedora/RHEL Xen kernels 
are a bit tweaked.

BTW, you *must* have PAE support (the motherboard and CPU must do PAE for 
real) and it has to be turned on (some BIOSs can configure that, I'm told, 
though I've not seen it myself personally, but I haven't been looking for it 
either) in order to use the Fedora/RHEL 32-bit Xen kernels.  The 64-bit 
kernels do not care about PAE, but you definately don't want it around on 
64-bit machines.
