Have you looked at www.thinkwiki.org? I only have experience getting Linux running on a T43, but a lot of my knowledge came from that site.
I'm not sure if the madwifi-ng drivers work with the AR5418 chip yet, but if it doesn't you can always use ndiswrapper to get wireless.
I doubt you'll have any issues with your Intel chipset. The only thing I'd worry about is the FireGL card, but the fglrx drivers should support that chipset as well.
