Web threats get out through the security holes in Microsoft Windows. There
are security updates, but most peoples' computers are so "fully loaded" with
useless software from the vendor (think 20 plus icons in the Windows tray on
a brand new PC) that they can't find the updates.
Another web threat: Vista.
