james,

um...yeah - can you /honestly/ think of any good reason to download 250GB
per month?

i can only think of a few preposterous reasons for using this much:

- renting and downloading an xbox HD movie every day of the month
- crawling several millions websites on a 24/7 basis to index and build his
own personal search engine for his own personal use
- maybe he backs up a bunch of his friends and doesn't know how to use
rsync, so he re-backs them up every 24 hours.
- or maybe he downloads every single linux distro iso that exists every
single day to make sure he's always up to date.

oh, and yes, it does mean that he is contributing to higher ISP prices for
the rest of us.

hey, as they say - it's a free country and he can do what he wants, but if
I'm missing something, please share a reasonable, legal explanation for his
usage, and also help correct my understanding of the economics of
subscription based services.

Josh,

That's uncalled for. Just because *you* can't think of a rational use of
bandwidth doesn't mean /ipso facto/ he's a pirate, nor does it mean he's
forcing the poor abused company to steal money from your pocket to
subsidize a porn craze (or whatever you think he's doing).

If a company advertises "unlimited" use, and a user makes use of more
bandwidth than you personally would, don't blame the user. The company's
management and marketing are idiots if they advertise "unlimited" and
then complain about the statistical edge cases.

(And, assuming there's no exclusion in the fine print or other picky
nit, sounds like breach of contract.)

James
