[sllug-members]: Comcast has problems

What I'm doing is cleaning spyware from my computer.

I downloaded f-secure.com's 30 day trial product and scanned my system to
discover I have some win32:irc spyware running. I've spent most of the
weekend trying to remove it. I may be forced to reinstall Windows.
Something I'm not looking forward to.

Just got off the phone with customer service. They can't do anything but
forward me to the "policy and abuse" department. A "person" I've spoken
with (Geovanny) was very abusive and very unhelpful. It didn't matter that
my computer was comprimised. He said I should have upgraded to a business
account which provides "unlimited use for a flat monthly fee".

I told him, "Oh, you mean like what I purchased 4 years ago". He hung up
:-) Nice guy.

Bottom line is Comcast isn't dealing with the situation properly. They can
set what ever rules they want. I really don't care. I just want to have
what the advertisement said I purchased :-)

Anyway, I'm hoping their Business support rep will be calling me soon. I'm
curious how much more it will cost to upgrade to this. I've also emailed
Gephart (sp?) with the story. I'm curious if he would be interested in
investigating this.

Sure wish I didn't have to deal with a monopoly. They are not fun.

James, I appreciated your comments. I'm not a pirate. If I was interested
in piracy there are smarter ways of getting data out there rather than using
my own home account. Heck, years ago I joined a company who had a
"anonymous proxy" enabled on their firewall. They didn't know why their
internet connection was always so slow. After careful analysis it seems
someone was "piggy backing" from us and sharing copyright material and
porn. Quite embarrasing :-)
