That would depend on your distribution of Linux. First you'd want to
find out the binary file that is executed when you connect to the pop
server, then find out what package that is part of.

You can do that as long as you can tell your POP3 client to download all
messages from the server, then remove them, rather than just new
messages. Personally I found that a pain, and since I control my own
server, I prefer to just keep all my mail there, so I can back it up
easily and get to it via anything that can speak IMAP.
BTW, as others have said, you're likely already using Procmail for local
mail delivery. If that's the case, then integrating Spamassassin is as
easy as adding a Procmail rule.
