I have some difficulties in using Gkdial in Puppy Linux to log in to my ISP. Some individuals on the Puppy Linux board also report problems with analog dialers in Puppy.

I used Gkdial for months and it worked reliably with my ISP. As of a few months ago, I can not log in with Gkdial. I can dial in with Kppp from the KDE desktop and Windows 98 SE. No doubt the problem has something to do with my ISP using Windows on its server.

Finding a solution to using Gkdial in Puppy would protentially help a lot of other people besides me. Problem is, most of the really knowledgable in modems and Linux do not seem to have the problem. I am guessing that someone who knows about Modems and Linux --could solve this problem in about five minutes.

At the meeting tomorrow night. I could bring my US Robotics External Serial modem up to the meeting. It has all the blinking lightens and buttons. (And a Puppy Live CD) If one of you could bring a laptop with a serial port and that raft of knowledge about diagnosing this kind of problem. We could use my login/passwords and decipher what my ISP server really needs to log in with Gkdial.

If one of you is sitting out there with the raft of knowledge and the right hardware to work on this problem right now. then I might PM you a log in/password.

Any takers?
