In a new gutsy box, I yanked an nvidia card that was running the
binary-only 3d driver, thinking the machine would puke at boot and I'd
reconfigure x to use the internal video.

Imagine my surprise when the internal just worked, chose the intel
driver, fixed up the pci bus address (iirc) and even stuck with the
screen resolution/timing I'd chosen before.

Stranger things have happened, but I rarely feel like linux is making
things easier than they were before. It was great.
