I believe X96 uses a WMV stream, not a flash one...

I can't tell you exactly what to do Gentoo, but basically you need to
install the win32 codecs (which include WMV support).

FWIW, on Ubuntu (which uses Totem) I installed the
gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad package which includes WMV codecs.
