I had to use Wikipedia to look up what the "Ken Burns Effect" is. It seems
hardly worthy of using a person's name to describe it, as it is a technique
that would be obvious to anybody editing stills together to make video. On
the first run through with still photos, the person would think, "Hmm,
boring..." and immediately add pans/zooms to match the story being told.
This relates to the broader topic of software patents, and how most of us
who code would instinctively take the exact same approach to solving certain
problems, which somehow happen to have patents (can't think of any specific
patents, but I think there were some recent Microsoft patents whose claims
basically described any non-MS operating system developed since the 70s).
So, it's still somewhat on topic...
