If your not too concerned with getting everything perfect, you could quickly 
install another etch machine with roughly the same packages and copy the 
permission from the first and second level directories.  That should be 
enough in most cases.  At least your owners weren't changed.  That would have 
been MUCH worse.

Or if you really want to have some fun, write a script to do it for you like 
suggested earlier.
