I could use a bit of help to get a copy of Puppy Unleashed.
I am a Social Security disability recipient who lives about five blocks from the University of Utah. As I have little money I use dial-up. As you guys probably know, Puppy Unleashed is a group of applications which can be directly installed into Puppy Linux. I believe Puppy Unleashed is about a full CD in size. . There is several things about this process I do not know. As I understand this.. Usually one downloads a framework of several megabytes and executes a script to get the rest of Puppy Unleashed. That creates a problem if I am asking a friend to download the larger part with Windows. If I took my one GB USB drive to the University and tried to download it at the University computer center. I am guessing here. I have to find where the Unleashed packages are hiding. I would need to use a spider function on a download manager. Oops. I am not sure that the University Computer center would let me do that with their computers.
Might be just as well if one of you can advise me if I can use the University Computer to do this. Or perhaps furnish the larger part on CD and a note on how I can get it to install.
A second question. I am considering buying a Linux guide. I seem to end up looking at a fourteen inch monitor with my second best computer and an E-manual. Not so easy for me to do with my poor vision. At first I was thinking of a Pocket guide to show the syntax of Command Line. I do not see anything I am thrilled with. I did find that larger Linux guides bought from Amazon.com are almost affordable. I am considering the Rute guide. I probably will not buy it until January, when there is a Linux Bible 2007 to come out. I am something of a beginner with Linux. I only want to be able to use Linux. Not write code for it. Any suggestions as to which printed Linux guide which would be good for me to purchase?
