[sllug-members]: Moving parts from one tower to another.

There really are no major consequences or warning about moving from
tower to tower. Lord knows, I have gone through twice as many towers as
I have mobos in my years.

Mainly, however, you need to be aware of ESD. get a ground strap, and
work on a flat large table surface. Realistically, leave the power cable
plugged in, but the hard-ware switch on the PSU set to OFF. This will
provide a path to ground.

Also, you need to make sure you are moving to the correct case. If you
have an ATX case, then you can only place a ATX compatible motherboard
in the case. microATX can usually go in an ATX case also, but an ATX
mobo will not go in a microATX case.

Cables don't usually go brittle, but it is a good time to check the
condition. A new set of ATA133 cables only runs a few bucks, so they
aren't too difficult to replace. The power supply in the new case should
be of the correct wattage. For example, most new systems need a 400w PSU
for full functionality. I have a dell 4600 which they shipped with a
250w psu, and won't power a video card under load.

The only other advice I can offer, it to keep it slow. Have a can of
compressed air on standby, and blow cards and components off as you move
them. Watch for ESD. And run your cables well.
