What I meant was. Example: I want to be able to use the standard Windows
printer drivers with Linux. Or the standard Windows modem drivers with
Linux. M$ has kept the use of Linux down by (smells like) sweetheart deals
with hardware manufacturers to make sure some hardware only works with
Windows.
What I read about Wine and virtualization stuff. (and I have never really
tried it). is that it sounds as unstable as Windows. Often not always easy
to install.
Adam. Sounds like you want to be able to run the Windows versions of
programs (like games) under Linux. That also would be interesting.
Please enlighten me as to where I am wrong.
