I knew this would be coming, that's why I'm publicly responding to to
Don's email publicly.

Gmail isn't good enough to meet my needs.

As Don accidentally demonstrated, last time I checked Gmail doesn't
convenient, automatic spell checking. (My email is incoherent enough
with spell checking. I shudder to imagine life without it.)

More importantly, keeping up with lots of email is just too hard. I have
spent years tweaking Evolution so that I can subscribe to a large number
of lists and not go crazy. I tried to switch to Gmail. I survived only
one week.

If your neighbor doesn't user deodorant, the answer is not to buy a gas
mask. The answer is to point out to your neighbor that in most public
settings bathing and using deodorant are a must.

Normally, one should do so in a tactful and private manner. I have tried
to do so many times, I have survived many flame wars as a result. So I
decided to try to ignore the problem. I couldn't.

It comes down to this: top posting and not trimming is as insulting as
throwing dog poo into your neighbors yard and then blaming your neighbor
for not picking it up.
