I was very happy to find rsnapshot. It uses rsync (with its hard-link 
features) to do self-rotating snapshot-style backups, like you'd get with 
a NetApp file server. The backups take about the disk space of 1 full 
backup plus the incrementals you have configured. For example, we use it 
to take several snapshots a day, nightly, weekly, and monthly snapshots, 
and it generally takes about 15GB to keep about 35 snapshots of a set 
of files that is about 10GB. It will backup over SSH just like rsync and 
others will. I've been extremely happy with it and highly recommend it.

Configuration is very simple, and if you decide to look at it and have
