[sllug-members]: Newbie Question

Apologies - let me give more detail.

I am trying to connect a USB external DVD-RW (I just realized its DVD) to my
Linux box. I am running SuSE 10.0.

To my understanding the drive should be autodetected and added to my /media

However, it is not, and I am not sure how to go about mounting it, I can't
seem to find any documentation (in english) that explains where the device
is to be found, and how to make it readable.

I am new to using Linux, this is my first major attempt.
