Tim O'Reilly: for starting the book publisher that moved UNIX and open 
source products into the range of non-gurus

William H. Gates: for providing a "great Satan" for the open source to 
movement to love to hate.  (Would there have been a Linux/OSS movement if 
the "enemy" was Bill Joy or Jean-Louis Gassee?)

Jon Postel: for contributions to TCP/IP and for establishing the ground 
rules for how to have disparate interests come to consensus on technical 
issues
