OK, how about some more to add to the list:

Bruce Perens - OpenSource advocate, helped define the term "OpenSource"

Michael Tiemann - Cygnus founder (validating the OpenSource business 
methods) and bison++ author.

Alan Cox - Kernel developer, Linus' right hand man, author of first SMP 
implementation in Linux kernel thanks to the donation of SMP hardware 
from Caldera Inc. (yeah, you hear that right - Caldera from which, a 
portion has sprung up as the current SCO, funded the original 
development of SMP in the Linux kernel).

Paul Vixie of Vixie Cron and many other things.
