In honor of Pioneer day, I wanted to start a thread on who we think the 
most influential and important OpenSource Pioneers have been...

K, here's one to start the ball rolling:  Linus Torvalds for development 
of the Linux Kernel.

Ok, there a many and some have well known names and other's don't.  To 
add, list one or more people with what they have done or are doing.
