Guys

I would like to know which set of instructions you use to get things
going. There are lots of different approaches to take and bits of
misinformation here and there. I thought it would be straightforward
since I'm only using comcast (no reception out here for broadcast)

I started with
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Adding_QAM_Channels_For_HDTV_Tuner_Cards#Scanning_for_channels

and I now have a channels.conf with *284* entries, but it did not
populate any names and has duplicate entries:

[0001]:597000000:QAM_256:2050:2048:1
[0001]:615000000:QAM_256:0:2561:1
[0001]:621000000:QAM_256:0:2177:1
[0001]:627000000:QAM_256:0:2689:1
[0001]:645000000:QAM_256:0:17:1
[0001]:651000000:QAM_256:0:2625:1
[0001]:657000000:QAM_256:0:2305:1
[0001]:663000000:QAM_256:0:2496:1
[0001]:669000000:QAM_256:2048:2049:1
[0001]:699000000:QAM_256:0:2625:1
[0001]:705000000:QAM_256:0:2049:1
[0001]:711000000:QAM_256:0:2177:1
[0001]:723000000:QAM_256:0:2305:1
[0001]:729000000:QAM_256:0:2049:1
[0001]:753000000:QAM_256:0:2433:1

after tinkering with azap and mplayer, I found most of the channels
don't work but a few work and I renamed them:

[KUEN]:579000000:QAM_256:2368:2369:9

Is this really the right way to go? Apparently I need to rename the
duplicates before I can even tune them and after finding channels that
work I have to create a zap2it lineup to get this into myth. But is this
even the right way to go? It looks like a huge effort.

In the meantime, I did do a scan inside mythtv. I can watch tv, but only
one channel, 93#1. If I up-arrow or down-arrow, it fails to the message
"error was encountered while displaying video."

I have told myth to record a series on a&e 35 but it keeps creating db
entries for the series but never creates the .mpg file.

Brad
