Normal depends on the station.  HD is either 14Mb/s or 19Mb/s
720p/1080i.  480p is about 5Mb/s.  Hour shows range from 1GB to 4GB, and
each show is different depending on how much black, motion, etc.  I've
had some 1080i's at 1.5GB's and others at 4.5GB's.

Yes, downside of debian is when you finally upgrade to the next major
release everything breaks.  I use debian and agree with the "don't
touch" idea.
