I have been having problems with SUSE 10.2 with both the
volume level on the speakers being about half or less than
when I boot XP.

Also, the Microphone no longer works and I need it working.

I tried compiling and installing the Driver 1.0.14rc1 in high
hopes that this might fix my issues.

Good news partially, my sound volume through the speakers is now
just as loud as XP if not louder.

However, no microphone as yet.

Question:  When would I need to also compile and install the
           Firmware and/or library tar files they supply ?
