I'm sure that would only work for the same platform.  i.e., Solaris x86 
w/Linux x86 compiled PAM module, Solaris SPARC w/Linux SPARC.

SunOS was originally a BSD system, but since they "changed" the name to 
Solaris oh so many years ago, it's a SysV UNIX (though, there were a couple 
of BSDisms still laying around, but that's true on Linux, too).
