I dug through the source code to xscreensaver and couldn't figure out
how to change it, neither would jwz condescend to reply to my email.  I
think in the case of xscreensaver the timeout must get doubled somehow
(an xscreensaver timeout + pam timeout, but I'm not sure) because it's
much longer than three seconds and it is *very* annoying.
