I dual boot my PowerBook between MacOS and Debian Sarge. For the most
part, it's pretty up to date, but Firefox and Thunderbird are quite
outdated ('tis okay, I use them in MacOS). My only real complaints with
Linux (any distro) on my Apple are:
1. The lack of support for the Broadcom BC94306 (Apple's Airport
Extreme) wireless chipset. This isn't necessarily Apple's fault (well,
they chose the hardware), but Broadcom's. Many x86 laptops use the same
54G chipset, and thus have no wireless in Linux.
2. Lack of support for the PowerBook's sound hardware.
Beyond that (and getting used to "simulated mouse buttons" when using
the trackpad), it's useful enough for my tastes. Although, I have to
admit, I've been using MacOS a LOT recently (My desktop running SuSE 9.1
hasn't been used in over a week). I just find it so easy to use, and
it's surprisingly stable. I use Fink to bring in all (well, MOST) of my
GNU utilities I'm so used to, almost making no point at all to running
Linux on my PB (except, of course, to say that I am. Hehehe).
